Linda Margaret Webster is the youngest daughter of Donald Dennis Webster and Phyllis Mary Train. Sister of Donald, Nancy, James (dec.) and David Webster. Linda was born in St Catharines, Ontario, Canada in 1943. She moved to Australia with her parents and two youngest brothers in 1950. She was educated at St Catherines School and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. She worked as a secretary for 20 years and then took time out to work at The Melbourne Theatre Company for seven years, starting out as the laundress and finishing up running the costume hire department. She then worked for eight years as the assistant to the editor of a national boating magazine. Linda married Anthony Lister Maw, an advertising executive, in 1965. During their marriage they lived for six years in Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong. They were divorced in 1980. She married Allan John Duffy, an artist, in a disused church in the desert ghost town of Silverton, in 1985. Linda and her husband live in the outback city of Broken Hill where they operate tourist accommodation cottages. Linda loves travelling, cooking, music, good food and wine and of course, Duffy. |
